Carmen Herrera, 33, was found dead on January 18, 2015, inside her West Side apartment on North San Joaquin Avenue in San Antonio. Officers discovered her body just after midnight and found the front door forcibly opened. Herrera had multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body and evidence at the scene indicated a shooting.

The San Antonio Police Department’s Homicide Unit opened an investigation and described circumstances that suggest she may have been deliberately targeted, given the break-in and severity of her injuries. No witnesses had been identified at the scene and police were working to identify suspects and locate anyone who might have information.
