William J. Whitfield, 31, was fatally shot outside S&S Sports Bar at 13310 Cullen Boulevard in Houston on November 23, 2014, at about 2:10 a.m. The shooting followed an argument between Whitfield and an unidentified person after they left a birthday party at the venue. Multiple men opened fire on Whitfield and then fled; Whitfield was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two of Whitfield’s relatives were wounded in the same attack: a 54-year-old man shot in the leg and a 38-year-old woman shot in the foot. Their injuries were described as non-life-threatening and both were taken to a nearby hospital and expected to recover. The bar reportedly hosted a large crowd that night, and investigators have been reviewing the venue’s security-camera footage and interviewing witnesses to identify the shooters. No arrests have been announced.

Whitfield was born January 2, 1983. Services were held December 13, 2014, at The Lily of the Valley C.O.G.I.C. in Houston. If anyone attended the event or has information that could help identify the shooters, contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
