Drevon James was 16 when he was killed in a late-night shooting in Houston on July 16, 2014. He was described as a bystander caught in the crossfire during a confrontation involving multiple individuals in a neighborhood already grappling with ongoing violence. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after arriving.
The Houston Police Department and community advocates investigated the case and linked the incident to gang activity and continuing local conflicts. Investigators urged witnesses to come forward but reported difficulties because people were afraid of retaliation. Authorities later arrested seven men in connection with a series of interconnected shootings across Houston; some of those arrests were tied specifically to the fatal shooting that killed Drevon, while others faced charges for aggravated assault and organized criminal activity.
Who in the community might have seen or heard something that night and can help piece together what happened?
