Ascehsion Garcia, 31, was fatally shot during an apparent drug-related robbery on January 27, 2014, in southeast Houston. Police say Garcia had been dealing drugs from his apartment at the Encanto complex on Lawndale near Griggs and became the target of what authorities believe was a planned robbery in an area known for drug activity. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots; Garcia was found critically injured and later died of his wounds.
Investigators linked the residence’s role in drug transactions to his becoming a target, but no significant breakthroughs have been announced and the case remains unsolved. Crime Stoppers of Houston has worked with law enforcement to collect tips. Family members remembered Garcia, known as Kino, as gentle and kind, someone who enjoyed fixing cars and spending time outdoors with family.
Did anyone in the area at the time notice suspicious activity around the Encanto complex on Lawndale near Griggs?
