Herbert William Cook Jr., 28, was murdered on July 20, 1975, at a Native American ceremonial ground in Somes Bar, California. He was from Happy Camp and was found dead under circumstances described as mysterious. An arrest was made in connection with the case, but no one was ever convicted.
The killing took place in a rural, culturally significant setting, and investigators were unable to establish a clear motive or gather enough evidence to secure a conviction. The unresolved nature of the case has continued to weigh on the local community.
If anyone knew Herbert, was in the Somes Bar area around July 1975, or has information that could help, please come forward.
