Daniel Gruenberg, 17, of San Jose was found brutally murdered on October 22, 1973, at Stevens Creek Park. His body was located at the bottom of a ravine and investigators determined he had been violently beaten to death. Authorities believe Daniel had been hitchhiking and was likely picked up by his killer before being discarded in the park.

The case remains unsolved. The San Jose Police Department continues to list Daniel’s murder among the cold homicides from that period, with little progress reported in identifying a suspect. This death is one of several 1970s cases that investigators still hope forensic advances might help resolve.

If anyone knew Daniel, saw a young hitchhiker in the Stevens Creek Park area that October, or has information that could help, please come forward.
