Luis Martinez was 22 when he was shot and killed on January 31, 2011, outside a Michoacana Meat Market in northwest Houston. The shooting occurred around 11 a.m. as Martinez returned to his vehicle; he was struck multiple times and died of wounds to the head and body.

Court records and witness statements indicate the attack was apparently retaliatory. Angel Chavira is accused of carrying out the shooting because he suspected Martinez had been involved in the earlier death of a relative on Sherwood Lane. Video footage shows Chavira arriving with a woman and three children, entering the market while he watched Martinez, escorting them out, and then returning to shoot Martinez.

Video and witness identification helped lead to Chavira’s arrest and murder charge. Does anyone have information about the incident or knew Martinez or his routines that could shed light on what happened that morning?
