Brian Ranard Davis, 36, was found dead on September 6, 2009, in the Acres Homes area of northwest Houston, a neighborhood that faced significant violent crime in the mid-2000s. Davis had been identified as a person of interest amid a broader investigation into a possible serial offender in the community; that probe examined multiple rapes and homicides and involved a dedicated task force that questioned and detained several people.

Investigators struggled with scarce forensic evidence and limited witness cooperation, and the probe generated intense pressure as officials sought to respond to community fears. Davis’s death has been described as unusual and remains under review, and he was among those who drew heightened scrutiny during the Acres Homes investigations.

If anyone knew Brian Davis, his whereabouts in the months before September 2009, or has information about the circumstances of his death, please come forward.
