On the evening of December 9, 2007, 68-year-old Marianne Wilkinson answered her North Richland Hills, Texas, front door around 8 p.m. while watching television with her husband, Don Wilkinson. She was shot multiple times by an unknown assailant and died at the scene despite her husband’s immediate call to 911.

Marianne was born November 4, 1939, a Southern Methodist University graduate and active member of the First Baptist Church of Keller. She was a mother of two and grandmother of four; her death deeply affected family and neighbors. Investigators have long suspected the killing was a case of mistaken identity, possibly tied to a murder-for-hire plot aimed at a neighbor who lived on a similarly numbered address on a parallel cul-de-sac.

Over the years persons of interest have included Dennis Taylor, Vincent Lane, and Willie Boley, but no arrests have been announced. Detectives were later able to develop a DNA profile from scene evidence, and authorities continue to ask the public for tips. If anyone knew Marianne or noticed anything unusual in that neighborhood around December 9, 2007, please come forward with what you remember.
