Dannarriah Finley was 4 years old when she vanished from her home in Orange, Texas, on July 4, 2002. She was last seen asleep around 4 a.m., wearing a white floral shirt and purple shorts. Her mother had put her to bed with siblings and cousins that night.

Four days later Dannarriah’s body was discovered near a dredge pipeline ditch on Pleasure Island in Port Arthur, about 27 miles from where she disappeared. The body was wrapped in a pink flowered bed sheet. An autopsy found she had been sexually assaulted and strangled. The pink sheet produced early leads, but no arrest has been made.

The community mounted a large search and more than 700 people attended her funeral at Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Orange Police Department, FBI and Texas Rangers have continued periodic reviews of the evidence and investigators have said advances in forensic technology may help. Authorities believe more than one person may have knowledge of the crime and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

If anyone knew Dannarriah, saw activity in Orange on July 4, 2002, or has information that could help, please contact investigators.
