George Javier Gaitan, 36, was found dead in a field at the corner of Highway 620 and Cornerwood Drive in Williamson County, Texas, on December 8, 1987. A civilian discovered his body; an autopsy determined he died from two gunshot wounds and authorities classified the death as a homicide. Gaitan, a San Antonio resident, had been in the area on business at the time.
No suspect was identified during the initial investigation and the killing remains unsolved. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office has kept the case active as part of its cold case efforts, re-interviewing witnesses and re-examining evidence with modern forensic technology, including DNA testing, while asking the public for information.
Does anyone who was in the area that day or who knew Gaitan have information that could help investigators?
