Bertina J. Shields, 48, was last seen in Farmington, New Mexico, on May 14, 2023, at about 9:30 p.m. at 520 E. Broadway. Reports say she was upset and left on foot; her direction of travel is unknown. Her children spoke with her by phone the next day, May 15, 2023, and that was the last contact her family reports having.

Shields is a Native American woman, an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, described as 5 feet tall, about 150 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Distinctive markings include a rose tattoo on her left arm and an 8-ball tattoo on her left ankle. When last seen she wore a black jacket, a dark-colored shirt and dark blue jeans. At the time she was experiencing homelessness and stayed at various locations, which has complicated efforts to locate her.

The Farmington Police Department received a missing person report on May 18, 2023, and the case remains open. Has anyone seen or heard from Bertina since mid-May 2023, or does anyone have information about where she might have been staying around that time?
