Quan Zheng was 34 when he was fatally attacked in Richmond on the evening of September 16, 2016. Having recently moved from New York City to Chesterfield County and started a new job as a chef, he was working a delivery shift and was on his final run when a fictitious order is believed to have lured him to the 1400 block of Lenmore Street. Witnesses say he was robbed and viciously assaulted after exiting his vehicle; his attackers then used his delivery car to strike him. He died of those injuries the next day.

The assailants also stole his cellphone and took photographs of the attack, which were automatically streamed to his family’s iPad in New York, alerting them to what had happened. Zheng left behind a wife and three children. Community members and Rep. Nydia M. Velázquez raised concerns the assault may have been racially motivated, with some linking it to a song that targeted Chinese Americans. The Richmond Police Department continued to investigate, and no arrests or publicly identified suspects had been announced.

If anyone has information about the Lenmore Street attack or the persons responsible, please share what is known with investigators.
