Michael Ryan Snapp was 19 when he was killed in the early morning hours of September 25, 2003. A student and third baseman for Virginia Wesleyan College, he was in his North Beach apartment in Virginia Beach when someone knocked at his door around 2:30 a.m.; it is believed he was met with gunfire after opening the door. Police found him lying just inside the doorway of the 4600 block of Downeast Court with a fatal gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene, three days short of his 20th birthday.

The Virginia Beach Police Department opened a homicide investigation but no suspect or suspects were publicly identified and no arrests have been announced. The motive remains unclear and the case went cold. The investigation is now assigned to the Cold Case Homicide Unit, which continues to seek information that could lead to a breakthrough.

If anyone knew Michael, was in the North Beach area that night, or has information about someone knocking on apartment doors around 2:30 a.m. on September 25, 2003, please come forward.
