Carlos Ricardo Thomas was a one-year-old infant found unresponsive in his crib at a residence on Old Forge Road in Virginia Beach on July 8, 2001. He was taken to the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters and placed on life support, but died of his injuries three days later on July 11, 2001.

An autopsy by the State Medical Examiner’s Office determined the child sustained trauma and ruled the death a homicide; the specific nature of the trauma has not been publicly released. Investigators have not publicly identified any suspects and no arrests have been announced.

The case remains cold and Virginia Beach law enforcement along with the Virginia Beach Crime Solvers have periodically renewed appeals for information. If anyone has knowledge of what happened to Carlos or relevant details from July 2001 at the Old Forge Road residence, please contact the authorities.
