Anastasia Christou, a petite white woman standing 4 feet 11 inches, was last seen alive on the evening of Friday, July 15, 1988, when she returned to her home in the 300 block of 25 Half Street in Virginia Beach, about three blocks from the Atlantic Ocean. The next day, just after noon on July 16, her son found her inside the house with severe wounds from a brutal beating. Emergency services were summoned, but she died of her injuries.
Investigators determined someone had forced entry into her home while she was sleeping. The attack is believed to have been motivated by theft. The State Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide. No arrests or publicly identified suspects have been announced, and the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Cold Case Homicide Unit continues to list the case as active and unsolved.
If anyone knew Anastasia, lived in that neighborhood in July 1988, or has information that could help, please contact the Virginia Beach Police Department.
