Eighteen-year-old Alice Margaret Eskew was last seen on the evening of Tuesday, September 4, 1979, leaving her home in the 3100 block of Arctic Avenue and walking toward Laskin Road. She was described as a petite white female with long blonde hair and dark eyes. Her family reported her missing when she did not return that night.

Alice’s body was discovered on the afternoon of Thursday, September 6, 1979, in a densely wooded area of what was then Seashore State Park, just off Shore Drive. The Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma, and authorities ruled the death a homicide. No suspect has been officially identified and no arrests have been announced; the Virginia Beach Police Department still lists the case as an active cold case. There has been speculation about possible links to other unsolved murders of young women in the area from that period, but law enforcement has not established any definitive connection.

If anyone knew Alice, saw her on the evening of September 4, 1979, or has information that could help the investigation, please contact the Virginia Beach Police Department.
