Eddie Rieckers, 23, was found dead on the shoulder of the road in the 46000 block of Concrete Sauk Valley Road just east of the Dalles Bridge in Concrete, Washington, on December 22, 2002. His given name was Edward Richard Rieckers, born July 25, 1978. Investigators described his death as violent and opened a homicide investigation.

Rieckers had lived in several places around Skagit Valley, including with his mother and step-father in Concrete and spending time in Day Creek with his father. He was known as an avid fisherman drawn to the Skagit River’s salmon runs. Authorities long suspected his possible involvement in the local illegal drug trade may have been a factor in his killing. The Skagit County Sheriff’s Office has not publicly identified any suspects or made any arrests, and the case remains unsolved. The investigation was reviewed by the Vidocq Society, but no breakthrough has been reported.
