On September 17, 1986, two employees loading gravel on an outlying Coors property in Golden, Colorado, found a badly decomposed body in brush. The remains were identified as Julia Ann DeTemple, a 26-year-old white woman, and investigators classified her death as a homicide.

Julia had last been seen a month earlier, on August 18, 1986. That evening she hitchhiked to the 40 High bar, later accepted a ride to the Tap Inn, and was last officially recorded after 8 p.m. when she received a Denver Mountain Parks ticket at Red Rocks Park. At the time she disappeared she was wearing blue jeans, a light blue short-sleeve sweatshirt, and brown boots.

The case is now cold. No suspects or arrests have been publicly announced, and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office continues to seek information. If anyone knew Julia, saw her that night, or has information about activity around Golden or Red Rocks in August or September 1986, please come forward.
