Sterling Emanuel (Euel) Jones, 67, was last seen on October 25, 2021, after leaving his Center Point, Alabama, home with a man he had only recently met. They said they were driving to the Golden Moon Hotel and Casino at the Pearl River Resort in Philadelphia, Mississippi. Jones was last observed at a Chevron station in Scooba, Mississippi, wearing a dark long-sleeved shirt, gray pants, dark sneakers, and a white Titleist hat. He was driving a 2011 Nissan Infiniti QX50 with the personalized plate SIRNARD; the vehicle was later recovered by investigators.

Authorities say the man who accompanied Jones returned to Birmingham without him and has been described as violent. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office deemed Jones endangered and now believes he was the victim of a homicide, though his body has not been found. Investigators suspect his remains could be located somewhere between Birmingham, Alabama, and Dekalb, Mississippi, and believe the person responsible may have had help. No arrests have been announced. Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama has offered up to a $20,000 reward for information leading to charges and an arrest.
