On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, 40-year-old Joseph Solomon Nicholas Haywood was shot once in the chest at a residence in the 4000 block of Old Piedmont Gadsden Highway in Piedmont, Alabama. Piedmont Police and the Piedmont Rescue Squad responded; Haywood was taken to Gadsden Regional Medical Center and died of his injury.

The Piedmont Police Department, with assistance from the Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics, investigated the killing. An arrest was announced the next day: 23-year-old Jessie James Beecham was taken into custody and charged with Haywood’s murder and held at the Calhoun County Jail on $60,000 bond, with a preliminary court date set for May 6, 2019.

Did anyone in the Piedmont area have information about Haywood, his movements that week, or his connection to Beecham?
