On June 3, 2019, 48-year-old Catherine Honor Liddell and her 23-year-old son Tavaris Glen Honor were found dead at their home in Fairfield, Alabama, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. Their deaths were ruled a double homicide; funeral services for both were held June 12, 2019, at Love Fellowship Christian Center with burial at Oakland Memorial Gardens.
The investigation has produced no arrests or publicly identified suspects and is now considered a cold case. The Fairfield Police Department handled the initial inquiry, and a few months after the killings the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office assumed law enforcement duties for the city. The family says the transfer occurred without a formal request that the sheriff’s office take over this specific investigation, a point that has contributed to the sense the case fell through the cracks. Another of Catherine’s sons had been murdered at the same residence in 2016.
Does anyone have information about Catherine or Tavaris, their home, or the events around June 3, 2019, that could help bring new leads?
