Kenneth Glavin Adams Jr. was 49 when he was shot while driving a tan 2015 Honda Accord on Valley Road near Fairfield Boulevard and Rutledge Drive in west Jefferson County late on the night of April 8, 2021. Deputies found him inside the stopped vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds; he was taken to UAB Hospital and died on April 10, 2021. Early reports gave his age as 50, but the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office later identified him as 49.

Investigators concluded the incident was a roadway shooting: Adams was traveling east when someone in another vehicle fired multiple rounds into his car. The scene suggested the attack happened suddenly, with no immediate witnesses or clear motive.
