Erika M Cironi was 26 and a mother of two when she vanished from Norwich, Connecticut, on New Year’s Eve 2006. She had been celebrating the holiday; family last saw her before she left for the evening and a friend later went to her mother’s house asking for her. Witnesses reported her last seen downtown getting into a vehicle. She worked as a retail counter clerk.
The case grew cold for years. In March 2012 partially buried skeletal remains were found by children in woods off Oxoboxo Dam Road in Montville and the medical examiner identified the remains as Erika’s through dental records. Her death was ruled a homicide. Investigators noted she had some history with law enforcement and substance use and that people in her circle were involved in similar activities, but no suspects have been publicly identified. A $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
If anyone knew Erika’s movements that night or saw her downtown getting into a vehicle, please come forward with information.
