Ray B. Dover Jr., 60, of Fairfield, Alabama, was killed on October 29, 2022, while riding his bicycle on Grasselli Road. Investigators say a vehicle struck him in the 6700 block and fled, leaving him fatally injured at the scene.

Authorities describe the fatal hit-and-run as part of a rapid, unfolding sequence that began earlier that evening at a hotel on Kelco Place, where deputies responded to a shooting. The suspect was later identified as Cortney Dion Price. Deputies say Price fled on foot after the shooting, then about an hour later took a vehicle from a family at gunpoint on Seminole Road. Minutes later, a vehicle matching that stolen car’s description struck Dover. The pursuit ended in Birmingham, where deputies say the stolen vehicle wrecked near Erie Street and Price was taken into custody.

Jail records list multiple charges tied to October 29, 2022, including murder, robbery in the first degree, aggravated assault in the second degree, escape in the third degree, resisting arrest, and assault in the second degree; he was held as a pretrial inmate at the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer with bond amounts recorded. Does anyone have information about Dover’s movements that evening or saw the vehicle involved on Grasselli Road?
