Roman Gonzalez was 48 when he was shot and killed on January 25, 2023, while working on a house renovation in the Ensley neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. The attack occurred on a Wednesday afternoon; gunfire left Gonzalez fatally wounded at the worksite.

Investigators told the public they believed the shooting was not random. Police suspected Gonzalez had been targeted by robbers preying on Hispanic construction workers, a possibility that alarmed the local Hispanic community. In the weeks after the killing the Birmingham Police Department continued its probe, but no arrests or suspects have been publicly identified.

The individuals responsible remain at large. Does anyone who worked in Ensley or knew Gonzalez have information that could help bring answers?
