In the early morning hours of March 30, 2024, 49-year-old Andre Taylor was found inside a vehicle at the intersection of 18th Avenue North and 18th Street North in Bessemer, Alabama, suffering from a gunshot wound. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the scene and the incident has been treated as a homicide.
Bessemer police say an argument escalated into a fatal confrontation. A person of interest was taken into custody shortly afterward and later identified as 35-year-old Martell Lamon Moore of Bessemer. The Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office reviewed the evidence and issued a capital murder warrant for Moore, who was booked into Jefferson County Jail and is being held without bond as the case moves through the court system.
The account describes the location, the alleged escalation from an argument, and the subsequent charging of Moore; the full sequence of events leading to Taylor’s death has yet to be detailed publicly. If anyone witnessed the shooting or has information about what happened that morning, please come forward.
