A Center Point neighborhood was rocked by a drive-up shooting on the evening of April 27, 2024. Dexter Antonio Buchanan, 36, had just arrived and was getting out of his vehicle at about 6:50 p.m. in the 400 block of 16th Court NW when a white four-door Mercedes pulled up. Four to five masked individuals exited the Mercedes and immediately opened fire, striking Buchanan multiple times. He was pronounced dead at the scene when deputies from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrived.

The assailants returned to the Mercedes and fled; their identities remain unknown and no arrests have been announced. A reward has been offered for tips leading to an arrest. If anyone witnessed the shooting, saw the Mercedes, or has information about who was involved, please come forward to investigators. Who else in the neighborhood might have seen something that night?
