Tamarion Burton was 19 and from Jackson, Mississippi. He died in a high-speed crash on Interstate 459 South in Hoover, Alabama, on February 9, 2024. Burton was a passenger in a Nissan Sentra that investigators say was struck by a BMW M4 while three vehicles traveling together from the Atlanta area were reportedly driving at dangerously high speeds. The Nissan was forced off the road and struck a tree; another occupant in the Nissan suffered serious injuries.
After the collision, the BMW and a Jeep Cherokee briefly stopped but then fled as police began arriving. The Jeep’s driver, Elisha Jamal Lindsey, 22, of Jackson, Mississippi, was later taken into custody after a single-vehicle crash at Highway 31 and I-459. The BMW’s driver, Tyrique M. Carter, 22, of Byram, Mississippi, was arrested at a gas station on Morgan Road in Helena. Both men were charged with reckless murder; Carter also faced leaving the scene with injuries and attempting to elude, and Lindsey faced an attempting to elude charge. Both were to be held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond and the investigation was ongoing.
If anyone witnessed the vehicles traveling together or the crash on I-459 that day, please share what was seen or any dashcam or surveillance footage that could help clarify events.
