Renee Millard, 40, was found shot to death on February 1, 2016, inside a home on Autumn Lane in the Meadow Lakes area outside Wasilla, Alaska. Alaska State Troopers were alerted to the sound of gunfire sometime after 8 a.m.; when they arrived they found two people dead — Millard and her 10-year-old son, Dean. Investigators identified the incident as a double homicide and turned the case over to the Alaska Bureau of Investigation.
The initial 911 call came from another juvenile who was in the home, a detail noted in early investigative steps. A dog from the residence was taken into protective custody and later released to an authorized person. By the evening of February 2, troopers had taken a juvenile into custody and transferred that minor to the Division of Juvenile Justice; authorities did not release the juvenile’s name due to state confidentiality rules.
Did anyone in the Meadow Lakes area at the time have information about the household or the morning of February 1, 2016?
