Nathan Anungazuk, a 23-year-old Indigenous man from Nome, Alaska, was last seen on September 30, 1982. Described as having black hair and brown eyes, he disappeared after that late-September day and was never heard from again. There were no further communications or confirmed sightings, and no physical remains have ever been found.

A coroner’s inquest later declared Nathan deceased, but the absence of a body and the lack of evidence left the circumstances unresolved. His disappearance is one of roughly 20 cases involving Indigenous people in and around Nome since the 1960s that remain unexplained and have prompted community concern and organized efforts to find answers. Authorities have investigated these cases but have not concluded a pattern pointing to a single perpetrator.

If anyone knew Nathan, remembers seeing him around Nome in late September 1982, or has information that could help, please share what you know.
