Cynthia Mabry was 13 when she was last seen at her home in the Fairview Estates neighborhood of Russellville, Arkansas, on December 2, 1976. She was 5 feet 0 inches tall, about 95 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, wearing blue jeans and a beige three-quarter length hooded coat with fur trim. Two friends who were with her that evening, 13-year-old Teresa Williams and 14-year-old Crystal Donita Parton, also disappeared that night.
Initial reports treated the girls as runaways who planned to go to Texas. In 1986 the skeletal remains of Teresa Williams and Crystal Parton were found near Brock Cemetery in northern Pope County, and the investigation shifted to homicide. In 1998 James B. Grinder, already incarcerated for other crimes, was charged; he confessed and later was convicted and sentenced to life. According to his confession, he killed Cynthia after assaulting her in a location in the Ozark National Forest, but Cynthia’s remains have never been found.
Does anyone from Russellville or the surrounding area remember Cynthia, the three girls on December 2, 1976, or have information about possible locations in the Ozark National Forest?
