Ronald Leonard Farrell, 62, was last seen the morning of October 5, 1999, leaving his family home on Alto Drive in the Valle Vista area of Hemet, California. He told his wife he was going to walk several miles to the Walgreens near Florida Avenue and Lyon Avenue to fill a prescription around 9:00 a.m. Farrell was a retired Air Force veteran who regularly took long walks and kept a personal goal of walking 100 miles each month.
He is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches, 155 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. He may have had a mustache and wore prescription eyeglasses with gold rims. A tattoo of an eagle with three small stars underneath it was on his upper right arm. That day he wore a long-sleeved white shirt and carried an Arizona identification card; he took medication for high cholesterol but was otherwise in good health.
Farrell and his wife had planned to drive to Riverside later that day; when he did not return home that afternoon she contacted authorities. An extensive search produced no clues, and there has been no indication he tried to contact family at their other home in Arizona. Does anyone who was in East Hemet or on the roads south of Valle Vista on October 5, 1999 recall seeing Ronald Farrell that morning?
