On the late afternoon of August 29, 2024, in Decatur, Alabama, 50-year-old Yvette Stover Fuller was found inside a vehicle near a Big Lots on 6th Avenue with gunshot wounds. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene. A man who had been with her in the car also sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to Huntsville Hospital.
Hours after the shooting, 51-year-old Marcus Fuller, identified as the victim’s estranged husband, turned himself in and was arrested on a charge of capital murder. He is being held at the Morgan County Jail without bond. The couple had been separated for about a month before the incident.
Fuller was the mother of three and owned Fuller Homes LLC, a business serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. She had received recognition from the NAACP with a Black Girls Rock Award, and her family said she was a devoted, hands-on mother who celebrated her children’s achievements.
If anyone has information about what happened near the Big Lots parking area on August 29, please come forward to assist the investigation.
