Martez Reshard Paige, Jr., 19, was found fatally shot in the roadway at the intersection of Jaybird Road and Edward Street in Brighton, Alabama, during the late hours of August 17, 2024. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. A silver vehicle was located near his body; detectives also identified a second scene where a blue vehicle had been abandoned and evidence suggested an occupant of that car may have been injured.

The motive for the shooting remained unknown. Martez, known as TUTTA, was a 2022 graduate of Bessemer City High School, a drummer in the Mighty Marching Purple and White band, an award-winning welder, and worked at the Mercedes Warehouse. No arrests had been announced; the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office asked anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

Does anyone have information about Martez, his movements that night, or the vehicles involved?
