A gathering of men at a residence on Ezell Street near Wilson Hall Middle School in Grove Hill, Alabama, ended in gunfire on the evening of May 11, 2023. Two men were struck; 36-year-old Grove Hill resident Quarwon Na’Eem Pendleton suffered three gunshot wounds, was taken to Grove Hill Memorial Hospital, and was pronounced dead there. A second victim, a 32-year-old man from Pascagoula, Mississippi, was also wounded.
Law enforcement identified a suspect quickly. A fellow Grove Hill man, Lawaun Belvince Hill Jr., was arrested and charged with murder in Pendleton’s death and with assault related to the other victim’s injuries. In September 2023 a Clarke County grand jury returned an indictment against Lawaun Belvince Hill Jr. for the murder of Quarwon Na’Eem Pendleton.
If anyone was in the Ezell Street area that night or has information about the shooting, please share what you know with investigators.
