Daniel Mayhugh, 41, was last seen in San Diego County, California on August 12, 2017. Family members later reported he had not been in contact for years and that he traveled widely in the United States and Mexico; the family officially filed a missing person report in June 2020. Mayhugh is described as an Asian male, 6 feet tall, about 185 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Distinctive tattoos include a sleeve on his left arm and Asian characters on his upper arm, and he may sometimes use the last name Hugh.

A striking and unresolved detail is that several of his personal documents — a Social Security card, a Texas driver’s license, passport, and birth certificate — were found in a remote area of eastern Shasta County in January 2017, seven months before his last known sighting in San Diego. Records also show an arrest and release in San Diego in August 2017; that release is the last confirmed location for Mayhugh. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation, which remains open.

If anyone knew Daniel, saw him after August 12, 2017, or has information about his travels or the documents found in Shasta County, please come forward.
