Virginia Rosemary Ginger McDougal, 39, was found dead inside her Arnold Lane home in Florence, Alabama on April 6, 2023. Family members discovered her unresponsive and called the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office, which confirmed her death at the scene.

Investigators also located the body of 58-year-old Dwayne Pigg in a shed on the same property. Authorities recovered a handgun plus notes and letters that led investigators to determine the incident was a murder-suicide, concluding Pigg fatally shot McDougal before taking his own life. Pigg was described as being in a common-law marriage with McDougal; because the person believed responsible was deceased, no arrests were made.

A memorial visitation for McDougal took place April 12, 2023, at Williams Funeral Home in Florence, and the Sheriff’s Office offered counseling services to the family. If anyone knew McDougal or has information about her life in Florence, please share what might help the record of her final months.
