Gilbert Rudolph Bohannon III, known to family as Scotty, was 32 when his body was found the morning of December 15, 2022, off Smith Road in a remote industrial area near Citronelle, Alabama. Investigators determined he had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and say the evidence indicates he was likely killed at a different location on December 14, then discarded along the dirt road where his remains were located.

Bohannon was remembered by those who knew him as a loving father of three and an outdoorsman with interests in hunting, fishing, and racing. The Mobile County Sheriff’s Office arrested his cousin, 25-year-old Drayson Stone Kelly, charging him with murder; Kelly was already jailed on unrelated harassment charges when the homicide charge was brought. Authorities have not disclosed a motive.
