On December 4, 2021, 33-year-old Christum D. Trammell of Anniston, Alabama, was found in the roadway in the 900 block of Woodland Court with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center and died from his injuries. Investigators determined the shooting was not random and identified 22-year-old Keaton F. Lawson as a suspect; Lawson and Trammell were described as acquaintances.
Lawson fled and was sought by the Anniston Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service as armed and dangerous. He was arrested in California on December 9, 2021, and was awaiting extradition to Calhoun County, Alabama, to face a murder charge. Trammell was an Anniston High School graduate who worked at Georgia Pacific and is survived by his numerous children, parents Kimberly Trammell and Gerald Hutchinson, his fiancée Katrina Elston, and several siblings; a funeral was held December 14, 2021, at Greater Calvary Baptist Church with burial at Eden Hills Cemetery.
Anyone who knew Christum or has information about the case is asked to come forward.
