In the evening of Saturday, April 24, 2021, 24-year-old Jamarqus Howard was found dead in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. First responders were called to what was initially reported as a vehicle accident at the Branscomb Apartments on 60th Street and discovered an unresponsive driver; subsequent information and medical assessment indicated Howard had been shot and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators from the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit identified a suspect after witness interviews and evidence collection. Raheem Abdule Davis, 25 at the time, was taken into custody the morning after the shooting and charged with capital murder; bond was denied. Authorities say Howard and Davis were acquaintances and that the shooting followed an argument, and the charge was elevated because Howard was shot while inside a vehicle.
If anyone witnessed the incident at Branscomb Apartments on April 24, 2021, or has information about what led to the argument, contact investigators who handled the case.
