Latisha Monique Frazier was 18 and a mother when she disappeared after finishing a shift at a McDonald’s in Oxon Hill, Maryland, on August 2, 2010. A recent Crossland High School graduate who lived in Washington D.C., she planned to meet friends after work and was reported missing the same day. Her family described her as responsible and hardworking and said she was considering college.

Investigators say Frazier was lured to an apartment in the 1700 block of Trenton Place SE by people she knew, ambushed, beaten, stomped, and choked to death. Prosecutors alleged the attack was prompted by the unfounded belief that she had stolen $900 from one of the assailants, Johnnie Sweet. After the killing she was bound with duct tape, a pillowcase was placed over her head, and her body was hidden in a closet; her attackers later attempted to dismember her and disposed of her remains in a dumpster.

Six people were charged in the case: Brian A. Gathier (Gaither), Johnnie A. Sweet, Anneka Nelson, Cinthya Proctor, Laurence Kamal Hassan, and Lanee Bell. Most were teenagers at the time. Several pleaded guilty to roles in the murder; Sweet was convicted of first-degree murder. Frazier’s body has never been recovered, and authorities believe her remains may be in a Virginia landfill.

If anyone knew Latisha, the friends she was with that night, or has information about where her remains might have been taken, please come forward.
