On the evening of February 25, 2019, Arnulfo Ortega, 39, went to a business on Service Road in an unincorporated area of Trussville, Alabama, intending to buy a car from a co-worker. The meeting turned deadly when the co-worker, identified as 32-year-old Walter Edward Juskiewicz, allegedly produced a weapon and opened fire. Ortega was found on the business floor with a gunshot wound; he was taken to a hospital and died on the morning of February 27, 2019.

A second person who was with Ortega escaped unharmed and later gave information to investigators. Authorities arrested Walter Edward Juskiewicz on February 27, 2019, charging him with capital murder in Ortega’s death and attempted murder for shooting at the second individual. A grand jury returned an indictment in September 2019; prosecutors announced in April 2021 that they intended to seek the death penalty and a trial was set for August 23, 2021. While awaiting trial, Juskiewicz faced an October 2020 charge of promoting prison contraband and has a prior 2013 conviction for first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12, with a ten-year sentence, two years to serve.

Did anyone in Trussville or the surrounding area have contact with Arnulfo Ortega around February 25, 2019, or have information about that business on Service Road?
