Michael Irvin Jr. was 30 when he was shot multiple times during a home invasion at his Decatur, Alabama, residence on Marion Street SW in the early hours of February 25, 2019. A Decatur High School graduate who ran a trucking company, Irvin was a father of three; his fiancée and two children, ages four and eight, were at home during the attack and his young daughter witnessed the violence.

Investigators arrested two men in connection with the killing: Zachary Williams and Ulyssiz Wilkerson, both charged with capital murder. The case against Williams went to trial and in December 2022 a Morgan County jury found him not guilty; he was released after the acquittal.
