Homer Deshawn Calloway was 35 when he was fatally shot on August 4, 2018, in a trailer park community off Veaslett Lane in Childersburg, Alabama. A graduate of Childersburg High School’s class of 2002, he was a father to three children. The community and family lost a husband and parent in the violence that night.
Within days investigators focused on a suspect. The Childersburg Police Department identified 19-year-old Kev’vakius Jalik Jemison of Talladega and obtained a warrant charging him with capital murder; he was also later charged with first-degree robbery. Authorities believed him to be armed and dangerous and thought he might be in the Talladega Downs area. After about a week, the Childersburg Police Department and the Talladega County Drug Task Force located and arrested Jemison, who was held in the Talladega County Jail without bond.
If anyone knew Homer Calloway, his movements that evening, or has information about the shooting, please come forward to assist the ongoing case.
