William Earl Ervin Jr. was 38 when he was fatally shot at his own business, Ervin’s Platinum Cuts and Detailing, in Jasper, Alabama on July 30, 2018. Emergency responders were called but Ervin succumbed to his injuries. Authorities described the shooting as believed to have resulted from a dispute.

The Jasper Police Department quickly identified a person of interest and took a 17-year-old male known to Ervin into custody in connection with the killing; the suspect’s name was not released because of his age.
