On the evening of June 29, 2018, a shooting at a mobile home on 19260 Airfield Street in a mobile home park in Athens, Alabama, left two Hispanic men critically wounded. Rigoberto Sanchez-Ocampo, 37, was found with gunshot wounds and airlifted to Huntsville Hospital; he died the next day. A second man, 44-year-old Adolfo Sanchez-Decampo, was found dead at the scene from gunshot injuries.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation and initially sought a suspect. A few days later a sheriff’s spokesperson said preliminary findings were pointing toward a murder-suicide, though autopsy results were needed for a final determination.
