A deadly ambush at a Selma gas station ended the life of 26-year-old Ernest Weaver Daniels III on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Authorities say the shooting also wounded two other young men, 20-year-old Matravius Aaron and 19-year-old Marquavius Benjamin, and grew out of an earlier dispute at a local club.
Selma Police identified four suspects in the case. Two men, 20-year-old Jeffery James Bennett Jr. and 21-year-old Vincent Devonte Ellis, were taken into custody and charged with murder in the days after the shooting. The remaining two suspects, 30-year-old Jimmie Lee Tyus and 21-year-old Darryl Davuntay Kennedy, were later located in Spring Hill, Florida, where U.S. Marshals and the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office arrested them; both were charged with one count of murder and two counts of assault in connection with Daniels’s death and the injuries to the other victims.
What information might help fill in how the dispute at the club escalated into an ambush at the gas station?
