Mulove Deasvon Williams, 25, was killed in the front yard of the Hay Court Apartments in West Tuscaloosa on the night of Saturday, March 10, 2018. A dispute between Williams, who was with family members, and acquaintances of 29-year-old Jessie Cleveland Knox escalated into gunfire. Witnesses said 24-year-old Edward ’Trey’ Womack produced a firearm and fired a shot, then shots came from Williams’s side, and Knox responded by shooting toward Williams, striking him multiple times. More than a dozen shots were reported heard at the scene.
Williams died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds. The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit identified those involved; on the morning of March 11, 2018, Knox was charged with murder and held on $150,000 bond, and Womack was charged with reckless endangerment and held on $9,000 bond. The killing was the third homicide in Tuscaloosa County that year.
Anyone who knew Williams or witnessed what happened is asked to share information with investigators.
