Shannon Sharell Steele was 29 when she was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound on the afternoon of December 28, 2017, in an apartment on Queensbury Lane in the Edgemont Village in Demopolis, Alabama. A Demopolis police officer who had gone to the residence to serve civil papers was led by Steele’s four-year-old son to the room where she lay; two of her youngest children were in the home at the time.
The investigation remains active but has been classified as a cold case. No suspects or arrests have been publicly identified, and the Demopolis Police Department and the District Attorney’s office continue to seek help from anyone with information. A reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction was increased to $20,000 as authorities pursue new leads.
If anyone knew Shannon, saw activity at the Queensbury Lane apartment around December 28, 2017, or has information that could help investigators, please contact the Demopolis Police Department.
